To Whom It xxxxx / for attention of the academic appeals board
I met with xxxx (matriculation number S13hhh558) on 2 Junexxx for a one off counselling meeting as she was nearing the end of her studies. As part of our discussion I offered to contribute to a special circumstances application that I understood she was considering at that time. I now understand however that Chen is submitting an academic appeal.
Chen advised me that she had felt anxiety and depression for almost half a year and that it had impacted on her studio work. Also, that just before seeing me she had seen the University Health Service GP (Chen had a letter from her GP). I understood that Chen’s GP had prescribed her some medication to help with sleeping but when we met Chen was unable to recall the name of the medication. In the small amount of time available to me I formed a view that Chen had indeed had a difficult academic experiencing and showed signs of generalised anxiety and that this had impacted her functioning and sense of self.
I am limited in what I can offer as I met with Chen for a very short period of time but I recognised that she was in deep distress that day.
